The members of The Women’s Giving Circle of PebbleCreek (TWGC) are aware of food insecurity in the West Valley. They are actively involved in supporting several non-profit agencies providing services to individuals and families in need.
Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank (AFFCB), located in Avondale, provides food, clothing and essential support for anyone facing hard times. TWGC’s annual Date with a Plate event has raised over $75K to benefit AFFCB since 2023.
Like AFFCB, the Owl’s Closet in Agua Fria High School in Avondale provides clothing and non-perishable items for students and their families in need. Our members support the Owl’s Closet through periodic Amazon Wish Lists which address specific needs of the students and their families.
St. Mary’s Food Bank has several locations throughout the Phoenix area, and our members have donated more than 150 hours of volunteer time. The West Valley is served by a distribution location in Surprise. Twice a month, several members volunteer their time to assist sorting, packing and distributing food to those in need.
Below are highlights of various donation drives and volunteer activities over the past several months. We welcome our friends and neighbors to support these activities. Quarterly, we create an Amazon Wish List to support the current specific needs.
TWGC collected 100 hoodies for the students at Agua Fria High School, more than they told us they needed. They were delivered to the Owl’s Closet at the high school the first week in December. The “left over” hoodies went to the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank. Thank you all for your generosity!
Twice each month, members of The Women's Giving Circle gather at the PC model homes to car pool to the St. Mary's Food bank. There they help sort donations and help with the delivery of food boxes to those in need.
You can repurpose your empty medicine bottles to the Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank, which fills them with soap and shampoo for those using the center's shower facilities.
Here’s how you can help:
Rinse out and dry the bottles
Remove the labels
Bring them to 16187 W. Mulberry Drive
The Owl's Closet at Agua Fria High School opened in April 2024 as a resource for underserved students and their families. Donations help offset the day-to-day costs and allow this valuable resource to continue.
Items purchased on the Amazon wish list will be delivered to Judi Williams and delivered to the school by the end of April.
